This product is a white amorphous powder, containing impurities in gray or pale yellow, with moisture absorption. Insoluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, soluble in acid, glycerol. Absorption of carbon dioxide in the air and water. Generated with water calcium hydroxide and evolution of considerable heat.

Application

1  used in construction, and for the manufacture of calcium carbide, caustic soda, bleaching powder and gypsum. Laboratory for ammonia and other drying and alcohol dehydration.
2  used in the steel, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, non-ferrous metals, fertilizers, leather, hydrogen, calcium oxide, ammonia laboratory drying and alcohol dehydration.
3  Calcium oxide can also react with water to produce a lot of heat, commonly used in automatic heating packaging. Production of calcium carbide, calcium oxide is an important raw material, together with calcium oxide and carbon in the melt in the furnace to produce calcium carbide, the calcium carbide.
